Chic On The Red Carpet: 2014 Golden Globes: Best Dressed

The Golden Globes are the first major red carpet event of 2014, which sets the tone for the red carpet trends we’ll be seeing this year and gives the winning and nominated actors a major boost of confidence for this year. Not to mention an opportunity to make more money! Just as any award show, there’s looks that are absolutely stunning and stand out above the rest! Here are my favorite looks and my pick for best dressed.

Amy Adams

Golden Globe winner for Best Actress Amy Adams looked stunning in this gown by Valentino. I love how the plunging neckline looks super sexy but also classy. It’s flawlessly accessorized with this huge Lorraine Schwartz diamond pendant.  I also love that her look (including the braided updo) is a nod to her role in American Hustle, very 70’s glam!

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts looked gorgeous in this shiny Tom Ford gown with mesh cut outs on the side and down the back. The Bvlgari snake bracelet, gold clutch and necklace were perfect for this dress. It added to the dress instead of overpowering the look. Go Naomi!

Kate Beckinsale

This Zuhair Murad gown was awesome on Kate Beckinsale. The gunmetal color was really cool and different. The patterned details in the dress also made it stand out and a walking piece of artwork. It’s also pretty unique that the top of the dress is a darker color than the bottom. Not to mention it was super flattering on her! Kate’s hair, earrings and clutch made the look. Outstanding!

Lupita Nyong’o

Can I say that I just love everything about this look from head to toe?! The first time I saw this Ralph Lauren gown it really took my breath away. I love the simplicity and the modern look of this gown. I love the sleek silhouette of the gown and then the draping effect of the cape detail. The idea of taking a classic piece such a cape and making it into a dress is so unique and genius. Lupita is a Golden Globe virgin, and where a first appearance on a red carpet can be disasterous when it comes to fashion, Lupita slayed. She didn’t make the mistake of dressing up a simple gown with too many accessories, she wore just diamonds from Fred Leighton. Perfect. Lupita is definitely my pick for Best Dressed. Hands down.

Olivia Wilde

Mommy-to-be Olivia Wilde looked so sexy in this form-fitting sequined Gucci number. She was definitely the best baby bump on the red carpet. She took a risk wearing something so tight while being pregnant but it really worked for her. The split in the back made it sexy and tasteful. An updo with this dress is preferable but I actually liked her hair down and loved the ombré.
